Film Making and Mental Health
With Krusan of Basement Reels
Check out our interview with the very talented Krusan from Basement Reels , who kindly took the time to engage in an in-depth discussion with some members of Thadam (Psychologist - Poonkulali Govintharajah, Thevy Kurumoorthy and GP - Maiyoori Jeyaprakash).
Krusan spoke about the influences of mental health in the film-making process and gave us a sneak peak into some of the purposeful and bold artistic choices that went into the creation of the poignant Basement Reels' short film "For My Daughter".
If you haven't already seen it, make sure you check out the short film "For My Daughter" in our previous post earlier this week! It deals with some heavy themes of relationship toxicity and the potential impact that this can have on children.
As a disclaimer, the purpose of our discussion is not to pass judgement or to recommend a specific course of action, but rather, to open the dialogue about this important topic and to encourage people to access support when required. We hope that this discussion can help foster healthy conversation about differing perspectives between the generations within the Tamil community and Tamil diaspora.
